STEM Rising blends content mastery, meaningful work, and personal connection to create powerful learning experiences, in terms of both academic achievement and students’ personal growth.

Engaged hearts and minds – Projects that provide real-world relevance for learning. Students can solve problems that are important to them and their communities.
Deeper learning – Students are better able to apply what they know to new situations.
Exposure to careers – Students interact with professionals and organizations, and their community, and can develop career interests.

Meet The Team

Dr. John W. Spencer

Dr. John Spencer is an award-winning, Philadelphia-based educator with over 25 years of experience as a principal, district-level administrator, educational technologist, instructional coach and science teacher. He formed TEACH IT Labs, Inc. to provide information technology that imparts skill and provides knowledge for social change and the advancement of humanity. He holds U.S. copyrights for eCommerce and data management software. John comes from a family of educators, with his father being a principal and his mother a teacher. John holds a Doctorate in Educational and Organizational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. Before receiving his Doctorate, he was a National Institutes of Health SRTP Fellow, 4.0 Schools Fellow, a two time Kohn Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, and Lindback Distinguished Principal Award, recipient.

Dr. Stephen Jones

Dr. Jones is currently President of SAJ Publishing. He is also the Associate Dean of Student in the College of Engineering at Villanova University. For thirteen years he worked at Drexel University as Director of the SUCCESS/ACT101 program. He has received numerous awards for his dedication to students. Some of his awards include Distinguished Toast Master, Toastmasters District Award Winner, National Society of Black Engineers Award and Black Engineer of the Year Award. The Drexel University chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers recently named an award after him to acknowledge his efforts. The award is titled the Dr. Stephen Jones Award for Academic Excellence. It is presented to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence throughout their enrollment.
